Since Chongqing's former police chief Wang Lijun sparked a political wildfire with his visit to the US consulate in Chengdu ten days ago, people are asking where he is.

China experts see Wang's case as a sign of a developing political struggle that may overthrow his boss, Chongqing Communist Party Secretary Bo Xilai, and possibly lead to instability between competing factions of the Communist Party.

Wang's wife and brother are reportedly in Beijing trying to track him down, but with little luck, according to online-based media Boxun.com.

Boxun reported on Wednesday that the Chinese Bureau of Public Security told the two that they had no information about Wang Lijun. When both visited the Chinese regime's Ministry of State Security, officers told them, (quote) "no comment."

The last official information about Wang came on February 9th, when state-run Xinhua News Agency confirmed he spent a day at the US Consulate, and is now being investigated for that visit.

Chinese media have since reported Wang was taken to Beijing by the State Security Deputy Minister. Others report he's been handed to an anti-corruption committee.
