Mass funeral in Homs

Amateur video out of Syria shows a mass funeral service in Homs.

The video, which couldn't be independently verified by Reuters, shows thousands of demonstrators at the funeral service--- that was held for the scores of people purportedly killed by overnight shelling.

World leaders and Syrian opposition activists accused President Bashar al- Assad's forces of killing hundreds in the bombardment of Homs.

They say the attack unleashed the bloodiest night in 11 months of upheaval in the pivotal Arab country. Activists say as many as 260 people were killed in the assault.

Syria's state news agency denied that Homs was shelled, accusing rebels of killing people and presenting them as

casualties for propaganda purposes

On Saturday Russia and China joined forces in a double veto to knock down a Western-Arab U.N. Security Council resolution for Assad to step aside.

More footage from the outskirts of Damascus shows smoke filled streets. Amid the sound of gunfire, people run for their lives.
