Well-known Czech artists supported imprisoned Chinese lawyer Gao Zhisheng and persecuted followers of Falun Gong meditation practice.

[Jan Potmesil, Actor]:
"The story of Gao Zhisheng and the situation that exists and rules in China has not let me cold-hearted even for one second."

Chinese Christian lawyer Gao Zhisheng was imprisoned and tortured after he stood up for followers of the spiritual practice of Falun Gong.

[Jan Potmesil, Actor]:
"We hope that Czech and European elite will stand up for release of Mr. Gao Zhisheng and ending of persecution of peaceful cultivation practice of Falun Gong in China."

After the actor and one of the active participants of students demonstrations for freedom and democracy in 1989 in former Czechoslovakia Jan Potmesil finished reading the open letter outside of Chinese embassy in Prague, he with other protest participants left for the Senate of the Czech Parliament.

Here a concert was held also to support dissident Gao Zhisheng and persecuted Falun Gong followers, currently the most intensively persecuted group in China.

The concert was initiated by a violist Jitka Hosprova who last June participated on a launching ceremony of the Gao´s book „China more just."

[Jitka Hosprova,Violist]:
"It touched me that the feeling I had when extracts from the book were read at the launching ceremony here in this hall, they touched me as if somebedy tortured me...Nowdays such things are going on to innocent people who are only cultivating themselves or helping others and I feel it should not be like that in the world and when we let it be when we close our eyes before that it will go on and gets stronger and we will be supporting people who torture the innocent."

At the end both the artists and guests signed the open letter.
