Iran's Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi took a swipe at the West accusing them of hypocrisy, as a team of United Nations experts start a three-day probe into the country's nuclear work.

Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi today declared his optimism ahead of a U.N. experts' visit aimed at probing suspected military aspects of his country's nuclear work.

Speaking in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Salehi accused the western powers of hypocrisy and hoped that justice will prevail as the nuclear probe commences.

[Ali Akbar Salehi, Iran's Foreign Minister]:
"But the difference is we believe in the logic of rationality while they believe in the logic of power. This is the difference. We believe in justice, while they seek injustice. We believe in the love for humanity while they follow the path of hypocrisy."

A team of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors have began a three-day visit to try and get to the truth of Iran's nuclear ambitions.

The West, this month took measures that affect the ability of Iran to sell its crude oil.

In response the Iranian parliament may vote on the bill to close the vital Strait of Hormuz shipping lane stopping oil supplies to Europe.

That risk's Iran's stand-off with the West escalating into military conflict.

Western diplomats say Iran only offers dialogue as a stalling tactic while it presses ahead with its nuclear program.

Iran may offer limited concessions and transparency but is unlikely to cooperate to the level required by the IAEA.

If that's the case Iran will face further isolation.

Irans Foreign Minister is still upbeat.

Ali Akbar Salehi, Iran's Foreign Minister]:
"So I would in a nutshell say that I am optimistic about this visit. Of course I do not mean that a miracle will happen overnight but you know a long journey starts with the first step."
