It is up to the people of Iran to change the regime in the country without assistance from external sources, Israeli President Shimon Peres said Wednesday. Addressing a conference of American Jewish leaders in Jerusalem, Peres blasted Iranian lawmakers who demanded the execution of opposition leaders in the country. "The greatest moral corruption in the world today is in Iran," Peres told the Conference of President of Major American Jewish Organizations. "It was an abominable sight yesterday to see on television the Iranian parliament standing and calling for the killing of opposition forces in the name of 'democracy' of [Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad. Those to change the regime in Iran will be the Iranian people themselves, and not foreign intervention."
