Ibrahim Suleiman, an influential Syrian-American businessman who held secret, unofficial negotiations with the former Director General of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, was invited to speak before the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on the understandings reached during the talks. Following his appearence at the Knesset, Suleiman gave a press conference and expressed optimism regarding the chances of peace between Israel and Syria.
