Passengers traveling on Israel's national carrier El Al will be able to purchase cappuccino or espresso coffee during flights. In a move to increase its income, the carrier decided to offer passengers the option of purchasing coffee for $4 to $5 a cup. Currently the service is offered free of charge to those traveling in first class or business class and economy class passengers who are Top Platinum members and have collected at least 10,000 points within 12 months. According to officials, air crews have been trained and instructed how to prepare the coffee which will be served with chocolate. El Al officials described the new service as an initial experiment with plans to expand services to economy class passengers.
