A French anti-racism group has threatened to sue Apple over an iPhone application that allows users to consult databases to determine whether celebrities or public figures are Jewish or not. SOS Racisme said the application sells for some $1.07 at Apple stores in France and violates the country's strict laws banning using personal details of people without their consent. Richard Prasquier head of CRIF described the Apple application as illegal and shocking. In France there is an important distinction between private and public spheres and if a person does not want certain personal details to be made public their wish are respected he said. Apple headquarters in Paris and Europe failed to respond to the request to remove the application, French media reports said.
