Infolive.tv - Israel News * The Israeli army is training forces for an array of scenarios along the Syrian border including the possibility that Syrian soldiers will approach the border to actively defend protesters if Palestinian statehood is declared in September. The army plans to deploy tanks along the border with Syria to prevent a violation of Israeli sovereignty and confront Syrian military forces if necessary. The training and change in strategy is one of the lessons learned by the army after scores of Palestinians in Syria demonstrated at the border on May 15 and crossed into the Druze village of Majdal Shams in northern Israel. In addition, the army is in contact with a number of international organizations and governments to work to contain any future demonstrations. This includes maintaining talks with UN peace keeping forces in Lebanon and Syria and a request that they deploy along their respective borders.
