Academy Award winning actor Christian Bale made headlines recently for trying to visit human rights lawyer Chen Guangcheng while he was in China promoting his new movie, The Flowers of War. Now Bale says he's not worried the Chinese regime will censor the film.

Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale has said he's not worried the Chinese regime will censor his new film, "The Flowers of War," directed by Zhang Yimou. The film is China's official submission for Best Foreign Language Film for the Academy Awards and was partially funded by loans from a state-owned bank.

Bale said, "I just do what I do. What happens after I'm wrapped is always out of my hands. It doesn't matter which country that's in, which scenes get chosen, which scenes get cut, that has nothing to do with me."

Bale said he was excited to be able to work with Zhang on the film.

He said, "I have a great sense of adventure, and whatever adventure I can take out of moviemaking, I'm going to. So I hope that not just with China but internationally that we'll start to get much more mixing of nationalities and film cultures. And I think we're going to get some really interesting results from that."

Bale was roughed up by plain-clothed government thugs in December when he attempted to visit blind human rights lawyer Chen Guangcheng with a CNN camera crew.

Chen Guangcheng has been under house arrest in eastern Shandong province since September 2010. The self-taught lawyer also served over four years in prison after representing victims of forced abortions and sterilizations.

Speaking of Chen, Bale said he wanted to "shake his hand and say what an inspiration he is."
