The Governor ofthe Bank of Israel, Stanley Fisher, has recently stated that he would leave hiscurrent job if asked to be chairman of the International Monetary Fund. Fishersaid "heading the IMF is something special. its an unusually importanttask, and i would leave my role at the Bank of Israel for it. There are notmany roles like it." Fisher reiteratedhowever that, although he would leave for the IMF, he is not lookingfor another job as he is pleased with his current role. when asked if hewould be interested in a similar position at the World Bank, the governorrefused to comment. Fisher was disqualified from running for the position as chairman of theIMF as he is older than their age limit of 65 years old.
