The Israel Civil Aviation Authority has cancelled the operating license of El Al Israel Airlines subsidiary unit, Sun D'Or, following complaints from European aviation authorities that Sun D'Or is not an independent airline. According to Israel's Ministry of Transport, the license will be revoked from April 1. As Sun D'Or flies on Saturdays and El Al does not, the parent company will now be forced to choose between starting to openly fly on Saturdays, or being forced to give up a significant market share. It is not known what El Al intends to do about customers who have Sun D'Or tickets scheduled for after April 1.
