The Transportation Ministry announced Monday that it would stop further imports of the Citroen C1 car as it did not meet the required standards of pedestrian protection that went into effect in 2010. The car had been approved on the basis of documentation but did not pass physical inspection, the ministry said. The ministry said it would not cancel the registrations of the 94 vehicles already delivered to customers. Contracts signed as of January 2, 2011 will also be honored. All the owners will be informed that the car does not meet the standard.
