16,000 NIS, that's the minimum price it will cost protestors who want to hold a demonstration in the city's Rabin Square. Tel Aviv Municipality say protetsors can gather for free at any other site in the city, but not in Rabin Square. Authorities say the costs go to funding other events that take place in the square. Since 2006, the cost for upto 20,000 protestors had been 19,000 NIS and 45,000 NIS for demonstration attracting more than 20,000 people. The current updated prices mean demonstrators will pay 16,000 NIS for 10,000 protestors rising until those with over 100,000 paying 35,000 NIS. Apparently, some local lawyers have said the tarrifs could be illegal and a campaign to have them overturned is gaining momentum.
