Outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Monday that Israel should give back most of the land it captured in the 1967 war if it wants to make peace with Syria and the Palestinians. In an unusually candid interview with Israeli newspaper Yediot Achronot, Olmert said he was willing to go further than any previous Israeli leader in order to achieve peace. Olmert said Israel should withdraw from East Jerusalem, which the Palestinians want as the capital of their future state, more than 90 percent of the West Bank and all of the Golan Heights, which Israel captured from Syria. 10/02/08
