The United States insists it needs a missile shield in Europe for protection against what it calls rogue states such Iran, which just test-fired one its new generation Sejil weapons on Wednesday. The surface-to-surface missile is capable of hitting Israel and U.S. bases in the Gulf. On the same day Russia rejected U.S. proposals to ease its concerns over the planned European shield which Moscow says is a threat to its national security. 11/13/08
