Knesset speaker Dalia Itzik finalized the date for general elections on Thursday, setting February 10 as the date. The process for general elections was launched after Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced his intention to resign in order to fight the corruption charges against him. Tzipi Livni who was voted as new Kadima chairwoman in the primaries and was tasked with forming a new government failed, setting the ball in motion for new elections to be held as soon as possible.10/30/08
