A designer who grew up In New York's hassidic community has caused an uproar over his collection of dresses made of parchment and embossed with Torah inscriptions. Levi Okunov says he was inspired by the prayers shawls draped around worshippers in synagogues and the heavily embossed Torah scroll covers he saw in his youth.08/14/08
