On the second day of his official visit to Israel, French President Nicolas Sarkozy arrived on Monday to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem. In accordance with tradition during the visit of a Head of State, the French President lit the eternal flame which commemorates the 6 million Jews massacred by the Nazis in the Second World War. A Rabbi then said the Mourner's Kaddish, the prayer of the deceased. This was Sarkozy's second visit to the Yad Vashem memorial, the first being for the the inaguration of a new meseum at Yad Vashem in 2004, when he was a government minister.
