The Maximal win the beast wars when a mutiny caused by Terrorsaur wipe out the predacons when he hit the collected energon. So the maximals take what they need from the predacon base to allow the Axalon to fly them back to Cyberton.
However, they are unaware that the predacons have used their demise as ruse to gain access to the Axalon and transform the orbiting maximal protoforms into predacons.
