Activists trying to take humanitarian aid from Turkey into Syria wait at the border. Their "Freedom Convoy" was denied entry into the country.
Activists trying to take humanitarian aid into Syria were refused permission to cross the border, one activist said on Thursday.
Around 150 members of the so-called "freedom convoy" were attempting to make the crossing, but say they were stopped on the road by Turkish police, just before they reached the Kilis border post.
A delegation was allowed through to negotiate with the Syrian side for access, but the request was turned down.
[Rami Karaali, Syrian Activist]:
"We were declined entry by the Syrian authorities. They refused to let us cross the border."
The group say they will camp near the border until they are allowed into Syria to deliver aid to those they say have been crushed by a violent crackdown on anti-government protesters.
The convoy, made up of Syrian expatriates from Europe, North America and the Arab world, set off on Thursday, carrying blankets, medicine and food.
They headed for the Syrian border in a bid to draw attention to the plight of their people.
Despite being denied permission to cross, they are determined to continue their mission.

"You know, it might be a tough night, it is a little bit cold with a tent but, you know, some people they have their houses burnt—some of our brothers in Syria."
Turkey shares a 550 mile (900 km) long border with Syria, and while the countries were once close allies, the Turkish prime minister has been outspoken in his criticism of President Bashar al-Assad.
