Dudley (literally) carries off Laurene Landon, plays a standard and the theme from "Arthur" - and chats to Johnny Carson in this classic Tonight Show. Dud was then riding high (so to speak) on the success of "10" and promoting "Arthur" (the ORIGINAL) - while Laurene was promoting "All The Marbles" (A.K.A. "The California Dolls"). This is almost the ENTIRE SHOW and includes a monologue from Johnny and a sketch which - thanks to indifferent writing - slowly goes down the dumper. Watch Johnny and Ed LOSE it!
Footnote (1): this VT is EXACTLY (right now) THIRTY YEARS OLD - which makes a nonsense of the THIRD reason most Sixties VTs got WIPED. The first was the then-high cost of VT. The second was "clearance" issues. But the third was that the boffins told the technicians VT's signal would FADE within a few years and become untransmittable - HORSEFEATHERS! This recording proves OTHERWISE.
