Garden & Outdoor Living: Scan Birdhouse & Disc Chimes - as part of the home design series by GeoBeats.
The first thing I am going to talk about is what I call the Scan Birdhouse, which is referring to like Scandinavian, minimalist design that I really identify with. I wanted to design a birdhouse that was simple and clean and combined multiple materials in a new and interesting way. The bottom is hand thrown porcelain and the top is a cedar paneled roof that I had made down the street. The suspension is a vegetable dyed leather braided cord.
The second design we are going to talk about is product category that I found almost no good looking design in-outdoor wind chimes. I designed very thin porcelain disks that are treated with a glaze so that they can be outdoors year round and suspended them with a thin leather cord. They look amazing in groups and they also make a really lovely noise.
