Activist begins protest fast

Crowds cheer as the colourful caravan of veteran activist Anna Hazare snakes through the streets of Mumbai.
Hazare is on his way to where he plans to fast until the government broadens the scope of its anti-corruption bill.
Parliament will debate the bill on Tuesday but these demonstrators say that if the federal police and the judiciary are left out and not made accountable to the ombudsman it won't be effective.
However anti-Hazare protesters, waving black flags to show their opposition, say he is undermining the parliamentary system.
The demonstrators were also critical of the non-inclusion of corporate corruption by Hazare.
The high-profile anti-corruption campaign has kept the pressure on Prime Minister Singh since January, while he also battles high inflation and slowing economic growth.
