France airport security strike delays flights

2011-12-20 20

Security workers file through Paris' main airport as they strike for better pay and conditions.
Flanked by riot police, the airline security contractors cheer and hoist signs.
Employees who are not on strike and other personnel are conducting the security checks at Charles de Gaulle airport.
But the arrangement is still leaving long lines of travelers waiting during the fifth day of the strike, and government mediation is not expected to begin until Friday.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) PASSENGER SAYING:
"We're not happy of course. If you travel a lot, you don't like it. You never like it. You want to go home to the family."
Although most flights were leaving with only minor delays, the strike prompted cancelations at other airports in France.
