Oscar winning actress Meryl Streep hit the red carpet in New York to celebrate the opening of her new film "The Iron Lady".
The movie tells the tale of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's rise and fall from grace.
"The Iron Lady" is not a bio-pic, but instead focuses on a few key events from Thatcher's life.
Streep portrays the history making leader over the course of 40 years.
SOUNDBITE: Meryl Streep, actress, saying (English):
"This character is unusual but what's not unusual is the point of view from which the film looks a that life. It's her point of view, it's a very subjective look at a very big life. But it's a big life, but it is a look back from the waning edge of power, it's a look back at power from the point of view of powerlessness."
Young British actors Harry Lloyd and Alexandra Roach are still in a bit of shock over being cast in a film with the acting vet.
Roach says she took advantage of the opportunity to learn as much as she could from Streep.
SOUNDBITE: Alexandra Roach, actress, saying (English):
"I'd watch her when I wasn't even needed on set. I'd just go on and just sit by the monitor and just watch her work. I mean it's such a great experience for me as a young actress to learn from the greatest actress."
"The Iron Lady" opens in New York and Los Angeles on December 30.
