Honduran troops clash with journalists

Tear gas fills the air during a protest organised by journalists in Tegucigalpa.
Reporters held the rally in the Honduran capital to denounce the violence that they and their colleagues face on the job.
Demonstrators here say violence against them has been on the rise for years, due in part to Mexican cartels and drug gangs.
Sixteen journalists were killed in 2010 alone.
(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) PROTESTER AND JOURNALIST, WENDY FUNEZ:
"We came to ask for justice for 24 journalists that have been killed since 2003. And we have read the stories of many colleagues who have been killed with clear signs of summary execution, which have been denounced by some human rights organisations."
The demonstration was organised by Journalists for Life and Freedom of the Press - a group created by female journalists last week after a colleague was gunned down by hitmen in the capital city.
