After years of neglect, the Chinese regime is stepping up its oversight of school bus safety. It comes on the heels of a nationwide outcry over the death of 19 children when their nine seat school bus, crammed with 64 passengers, collided with a truck in November.

Agence France Presse reported the Chinese regime's cabinet has laid out a draft aimed at improving safety standards. The public is being invited to comment on these provisions.

Mandatory regulations include biyearly safety checks, as well as the installation of hammers, fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
