Mentoring orphans in Kenya

2011-12-12 15

The Community Based Care of Orphans (CBCO) programme, was funded through Christian Aid by USAID and delivered in Kenya by partners BIDII -- a Swahili word meaning 'effort' -- and Inter-Diocesan Christian Community Services. The programme enabled children who have been orphaned as a result of HIV to remain in the community cared for by grandparents or other relatives by strengthening the economic status of care givers through Savings and Loans Associations (SLAs) and by paying school fees and for other resources that enable children to reach their full potential.
