Chinese censors are pulling the plug on commercials during TV dramas beginning January 1st of next year. The ban pertains to programs that are 45 minutes long.

This isn't the first time authorities are putting restrictions on TV shows. The matchmaking program "If You Are The One" enjoyed immense success in the Mainland. The show features a jury of 24 single women who decide on whether one hopeful man is an eligible bachelor.

But back in October, the ruling regime's State Administration of Radio Film and Television banned "fake participants" who seek publicity, hosts being "morally provocative", and sexual references in all entertainment shows.

Also in September, the Administration took popular talent show 'Super Girl' - the Chinese version of American Idol - off air for a year. Regulations have also banned television programs about time-travel.
