Chinese authorities have announced the start of joint patrolling actions with Thailand, Laos and Burma.

What the PRC refers to as the "policing" of the Mekong River is now scheduled to start by December 15th.

The patrols come at Chinese urging—and follow an October incident in which two Chinese ships were attacked, with 13 fatalities. After that, China put a temporary halt to shipping in the so-called "Golden Triangle" region of Southeast Asia, known for a thriving drug trade.
