Dubai International Motor Show 2011 is the largest event of its kind in the Middle East. It's is a car lovers dream with everything from concept cars to super-cars, as well as the latest in robot technology presented by Honda.
Asimo, one of the world's most advanced humanoid robots, entertains the crowd at the 2011 Dubai Motor show this week.
The humanoid robot developed by Honda, made its debut last Sunday at the Dubai Motor Show.
[Jean-luc de Krahe, Events & Communication, Asimo Studio]:
“The reason for Asimo to be here actually is that Honda is a mobility company."
Asimo, which stands for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, was introduced to the world in 2000.
But Honda has been developing a humanoid robot since 1986.
The latest version of Asimo can recognize faces and voices, climb up and down stairs, handle difficult terrain, run and even dance.
Asimo has autonomous artificial intelligence so it could potentially manoeuvre itself through crowds of people without remote control or stopping each time to check on its programming.
Honda hopes the research and development robot will, in the near future, be introduced into society to serve humans.
[Jean-luc de Krahe, Events & Communication, Asimo Studio]:
“Asimo has been developed to help people, I mean in the ageing society as we encounter at the moment, we will need machine to help us in the future."
The latest version of Asimo uses multiple sensors to assess any situation, then responds to the movement of people.
[Jean-luc de Krahe, Events & Communication, Asimo Studio]:
“With a robot like Asimo you can actually enter the 4th dimension of mobility - actually with a robot like this you can perform a task yourself but without moving because your robot will do the task by itself.”...
