Young demonstrators scuffled with police in Rome on Thursday, after they were preventing from marching in protest at the G20 meeting and austerity measures announced by the Italian government.
The students also took to the street to voice their anger at a ban on protests in central Rome order by Mayor Gianni Alemanno following violent demonstrations in October.
The majority of the demonstrators were high school students.
Eventually, the protesters managed to break through a fence, prompting police to push them back.
