Egyptian prisoners released by Israel in exchange for an American-Israeli held in Egypt on spying charges cross the border into their homeland. The U.S. brokered swap saw 25 Egyptian prisoners released in exchange for the Israeli man.

Twenty-five freed Egyptian prisoners cross the border home on Thursday in a prisoner swap involving an American-Israeli man, charged by Egypt with spying.

The man is to fly to Tel Aviv after his release.

Israel released 25 jailed Egyptians - some convicted of smuggling - for Ilan Grapel, detained in Egypt in June on accusations he was out to recruit agents and monitor events in the revolt that toppled Hosni Mubarak.

Israel's relations with Egypt have been strained since the uprising, and deny the charges.

Israeli officials say Grapel has been released and is on his way to Tel Aviv.
Many of the freed Egyptians knelt to pray before boarding a coach to continue their journey.

Three minors are among those released.

Among them, a 14-year-old boy. He says he was treated well in captivity but he had had no contact with his family.

[Fayez, 14-year-old Released Egyptian]:
"Good. I was treated well." [...] "Thank God. No there was not communication between me and family except for once."

Another said the treatment had not been too bad.

[Released Prisoner]:
"They treated us like Egyptians, but it was OK. No, I will not think about going back to Israel."

The U.S.-brokered exchange deal was reached shortly after a more high-profile, Egyptian-brokered swap between Israel and Hamas Islamists that freed captive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in exchange for more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners.
