An "Oscar buzz" was in the air as the awards season kicked off Monday night (October 24) in Beverly Hills at the 15th annual Hollywood Film Awards gala.
The elegant event took place at the Beverly Hilton, where the likes of Glenn Close and George Clooney walked the red carpet on an evening that saw them honored for their extensive work in film.
Close took home the "Hollywood Career Achievement Award" and said it was a night to reflect back on those who had helped her along the way.
SOUNDBITE GLENN CLOSE SAYING (English):
"I've been thinking very much these days about the people who helped me, who inspired me, who directed me, who casted me, who clothed me, who put make up on my face and lit me. It is such a deeply collaborative art form that I would not be here if it wasn't for all those people. So, they are all here with me."
Clooney, who arrived on the red carpet with girlfriend Stacy Keibler, was recognized with the "Hollywood Actor Award."
Michelle Williams, who is generating talk of Oscar worthiness for her work in "My Week With Marilyn," received the Actress nod.
The cast for "The Help" was honored with the "Ensemble Acting Award."
The Hollywood Film Awards gala is held each year to honor excellence in the art of filmmaking.
