Director Kelly Asbury on Gnomeo And Juliet

2011-10-12 3

We're proud to declare that Gnomeo And Juliet is easily the best Shakespearean-film-adaption-that-replaces-all-the-characters-with-gnomes-and-other-garden-ornaments we've ever seen, and that's a compliment we don't bestow lightly, believe you me. Stuffed to the rafters with an absurd amount of vocal talent (Ozzy Osbourne as a ceramic reindeer, Hulk Hogan as a lawnmower advert announcer, Michael Caine as a big ol' gnome) it's essentially the Shakespearean equivalent of Sly Stallone's star-studded actioner The Expendables. Except Sly's Sir Elton John (he produced it you see, and provided the music) and, you know, it's about gnomes and love and stuff. Not guns and death and stuff. Anyway, when we got the chance to speak to Emily Blunt (gorgeous, hilarious, wonderful), Matt Lucas and Ashley Jensen (gorgeous, hilarious, wonderful), and director Kelly Asbury (gorgeous, hilarious, wonderful), we jumped at the chance. The results? Well, put it this way: prepare to fall in love with Emily Blunt. Again. http://www.empireonline.com/interviews/interview.asp?IID=1190
