Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and The PM Dr Mahanmohan Singh attended Dussehra celebrations at the famous Subhash maidan. In a symbolic gesture, Leaders took up bow and arrow in their hands and marked the beginning of the burning of effigies of Demon King Ravana, son Meghnath, and brother Kumbhakaran. Sonia Gandhi also attended Dussehra celebrations at the Subhash Maidan near Red Fort. At Delhi’s popular Ramlila Maidan and Subash Maidan tens of thousands of people converged on this occasion to witness one of the biggest commemorations of Dussehra. The Congress president had earlier greeted the people on Dussehra and wished that the festival brings peace, prosperity and progress throughout the country.
