Tributes to Steve Jobs outside Apple's California headquarters took many forms, but mourners were united in their admiration.

"He's a visionary, unquestionably. I think he led the world, probably, in computers, the iPhone, everything. It's truly amazing what he did."
Apple fans began laying floral tributes and cards outside the firm's HQ late into the night after the news broke of Jobs' death at the age of 56.
The firm's co-founder had fought a long battle against cancer and other health problems.

Apple said Jobs' wife and immediate family were with him when he died.
