On the fifth day of the Conrad Murray trial, a cardiologist at the UCLA hospital where Michael Jackson was taken on the day of his death, testified that Dr. Conrad Murray did not disclose vital information after being repeatedly asked about Jackson's drug intake.
Testifying at Los Angeles Superior Court, Dr. Thao Nguyen, the cardiologist on-call at the hospital on June 25, 2009, said that she had asked Murray whether the patient had any drugs in his system. Murray said Jackson had been given lorazepam, but did not mention any other drugs, even when prompted.
SOUNDBITE: Dr. Thao Nguyen saying (English):
"Nothing. Nothing else."
SOUNDBITE: David Walgren, Prosecutor, saying (English):
"That was the response, that he gave nothing else?"
SOUNDBITE: Dr. Thao Nguyen saying (English):
"Yeah. In that idea, like no other drugs."
SOUNDBITE: David Walgren, Prosecutor, saying (English):
"But I mean he answered your question, his answer was he had not given any other drugs?"
SOUNDBITE: Dr. Thao Nguyen saying (English):
"Yes."
Murray is on trial for the involuntary manslaughter of Jackson, who died after receiving a lethal dose of the sedative propofol. Murray admits administering propofol, but his lawyers have argued that Jackson caused his own death by giving himself an extra dose of the drug.
Murray faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
