Under fire from all quarters over its Rs. 32-a-day definition of poverty line, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, explained the panel's stand. Mr Ahluwalia addressed a press conference along with Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh.
