An amazing story of survival. A 67-year-old man lives for six days on only leaves and creek water - after his car fell off a cliff in southern California.
Missing for almost a week -- David LaVau traveled from a Los Angeles suburb to Oxnard but never came back. His children immediately knew something was wrong.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) LISA LAVAU, DAUGHTER SAYING:
"We know our dad. My dad would never not call his kids. There are four of us."
LaVau's daughter Lisa and her siblings set off to retrace their father's route, stopping at every ravine until they found his car.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) LISA LAVAU, DAUGHTER SAYING:
"Then my brother got out of the car and we kept screaming and the next thing we heard dad say 'help, help' and there he was."
LaVau was found with broken bones 200-ft down the cliff.
And nearby, another car that crashed off the cliff - only this one had a decomposing body inside.
Captain Bob Brandelli of the Los Angeles County Fire Department
"This is a bad section of road. This has been the fourth incident I have been on here where we have had cars over the side."
Reunited with his family, LaVau was transported to a nearby hospital - where he is recovering from his injuries that are not life-threatening.
