The aftermath of a deadly shooting in southern Thailand that left four soldiers dead.
Suspected Muslim insurgents killed the four soldiers and wounded two other people -- including a child -- in an ambush at a school.
Up to 20 gunmen attacked soldiers protecting teachers at the school.
Security personnel are often targeted for their association with the Thai state.
More than 4,800 people have been killed over the last seven years in regional unrest, as Malay Muslims fight for autonomy from majority Buddhist Thailand.
Local Muslims largely oppose the presence of tens of thousands of police and soldiers in the rubber-rich region, which was part of a Malay Muslim sultanate until being annexed by Thailand a century ago.
