Glass Blowing: How to Flatten Bottom - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. I am heating half of this piece. I have half of it in the glory hole, and half of it out of the glory hole. So this is using the line of heat to heat the front of my piece, and when I come out, you will see a distinct difference between the glass at the pipe and the glass halfway down the pipe. See where the heat is? So the heat is very obviously at the front of the vessel. So I will do that a little more. And I come out and hang this down, and just by hanging it down it is starting to elongate, and if I swing it, it will get really long. But I will not, I will just do it by hanging it down. Blow please... and stop. And blow, lightly. And stop. Blow hard... stop. I got a little too much glass at the bottom here. Run down along here, paper shaping it. And Matt will go along with the pad lightly, and Dori will blow lightly, very lightly Dori. Out of it more Matt... and stop. So as you see, glass blowing is very team-oriented, as the pieces get bigger, you often need a lot more help. So in this piece, probably myself and Dori could handle it, but we got Matt here. So 3 people are perfect - having someone blow, having someone paddle, or protect my hand whilst I shave the glass.
