Brazil's Navy rescues a British couple after their motor home crashed into a ravine in the Amazon rainforest.
Bruce Scott and Lesley Norris said they fell into the ravine after a bridge collapsed underneath them.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) BRITISH TOURIST, BRUCE SCOTT, SAYING:
"We're just driving along the road and crossing one of the bridges and it looked like a really good bridge and it just collapsed and the vehicle went down and that's about it, we couldn't continue our journey and so the nice marines came and rescued us."
Despite their remote location, the couple had a signal on their phone to ring relatives in England.
They in turn, the British coast guard who forwarded the details to the Brazilian rescue authorities.
(SOUNDBITE) (Portuguese) MARINE OFFICER, ELIS VULGARELLIS, SAYING:
"Through this phone and also their rescue system they managed to give us their exact location so that our helicopter could reach them."
The Britons, both in their early 60s were found near the city of Manicore, 200 miles south west of the Amazonas state capital.
