Chinese authorities expressed anger on Monday over recently leaked news that the United States has agreed to upgrade Taiwan’s existing fleet of F-16 A/B fighter jets.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told reporters the Chinese regime is opposed to any sort of foreign arms deals with Taiwan.

The US is obligated by treaty to help Taiwan defend itself from possible aggression from the Chinese regime, but it does not want to upset diplomatic relations with Chinese leaders.
