This Friday, 2nd September, public voting opens for the final 22 projects -- including The Green Valley Centre, Bryncynon -- competing for Best Environment Project
Residents of the Cynon Valley in Wales are turning green-fingered, thanks to a National Lottery-funded project that has transformed a derelict wilderness into a four-and-a-half-acre landscaped community green space.
National Lottery funding has been to used landscape the area, employ staff to manage the projects and provide environmental apprenticeships to local unemployed youngsters. Such a wide range of volunteering opportunities has provided hundreds of local people with new skills, formal training and an overall improved sense of health and well-being.
