Dean and Cauvin Trust’s Aftercare Service reaches National Lottery Awards Final 2011

Competing for Best Voluntary/Charity Project

Dean and Cauvin Trust is Edinburgh’s oldest charity. The Trust’s Aftercare Service provides a continuum of care for young people that have been looked after and accommodated within the Trusts residential care homes. This involves building natural and supportive relationships with the young people during their stay, exploring their wishes for the future and assisting young people to make successful transitions into independent living. This includes helping young people secure and set up a home, accessing education and training opportunities as well as developing the crucial skills required to successfully manage a tenancy.

Without funding from the National Lottery, the service could not be provided for a large number of young people in the area as the grant is used to fund the posts of Aftercare Support Workers.
