Chase Trails Cycle Project reaches National Lottery Awards Final 2011

2011-09-02 15

The Chase Trails Cycle Project has involved local people in the design, build and maintenance of mountain bike trails in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire.

National Lottery funding was used to hire machines and operators to unearth the initial excavation and then provided materials for the Chase Trails volunteer group to complete the trails using the necessary equipment. A small amount of money was set aside for information, signage and some outreach work to encourage all groups within the community to use it. To date, over 100,000 people have enjoyed the network of cycling trails and around 200 people have invested time in building the course – amounting to eight or nine years of volunteer hours.
