Brighter Future Workshop, Skelmersdale – competing for Best Environment Project
The Brighter Future Workshop exists to enhance the lives of people with disabilities, and others who are disadvantaged. Young disabled people train in the workshop, working alongside technicians to recycle donated mobility equipment. Over 6,000 pieces destined for landfill have been recycled to date, giving people with disabilities in the area access to affordable mobility equipment.
National Lottery funding has enabled the project to continue to expand, increasing training day places and help fund increased operational costs.
