Johnny Gill began singing with his family’s gospel group, Wings of Faith, in his hometown, Washington, DC. His solo career began in 1983 with the song Super Love, and released 2 albums between 1983 and 1985, and recorded a duet album with his childhood friend, Stacy Lattisaw. In 1988, Gill joined New Edition, replacing Bobby Brown. Gill finally was finally elevated to superstar status in 1990 with the release of his third album, which produced the hits, 'My My My, 'Rub You The Right Way', 'Fairweather Friend', and 'Wrap My Body Tight'. In the 1990s, Gill has since recorded 2 more albums including a best of CD and soul ballads. He was formerly a member of LSG (Levert Sweat Gill), and has continued to perform as a member of New Edition and as recently been touring with fellow New Edition members Bobby Brown and Ralph Tresvant as the group Heads Of State.
